a rough draft poster for the event

The Wonders of the Super

Looking at everyone's blog post I also think that a Kahoot game would be a big hit! I remember in high school when our teacher announced that we were going to play kahoot everyone got excited and very competitive. We can make our kahoot game based off of superhero films like Superman, Dark Knight, Avengers, etc. We can also throw in some questions about certain religious figures to. Ex: we can add a picture of Buddha and ask which religion he is associated with. I also really like Rebecca's idea of Heads Up! That game brings a lot of excitement and encourages people to get up and be involved in the game. I really like Brandon's idea of showing the film about how the school may be haunted. I think this film will bring people to our event because it really will leave you wondering if the school is really haunted or not. After the film is shown we can have a discussion of it and then invite people to talk about supernatural things they may have experienced in their life whether it's campus-related or not.

event

For the event I think that a kahoot game based on superhero trivia is a really good idea. As for other games relating to the theme of superheroes, I think that Heads Up! is another good idea we can use both superhero names and the actors that play them. For the second part of the event, I think focusing on the goosebumps/ghost stories will draw the interest of students. maybe even just having a conversation during that time as well about why we think that people believe in ghosts and the supernatural. I also really liked the idea that Brandon had in class on Thursday about if AU is haunted or not, I think that will also draw in students out of curiosity.

Event

I believe that for the event the best things to advertise heavily is the superhero/supernatural theme. I think that even if we promote it as an event put on by the superhero/supernatural class we could make people interested in us just for what our class is in general. I think that we could advertise that we’re having a “super” themed trivia/game night.

I think that the best thing for us to put on the posters is just a mashup of different superhero stuff & different supernatural themed things (zombies, ghosts, superheroes etc..) we could also obviously advertise films and food as well, this is something that we could put directly on the posters.

Example for poster:

THE SUPERHERO AND SUPERNATURAL CLASS PRESENTS

“THE WONDERS OF THE SUPER!”

Join us for a superhero/supernatural themed night featuring: games, snacks, prizes, movies, etc...while we attempt to explain _____.

The wonders of the super

The wonders of the super
Diamond Allen

I also agree that for our event that a kahoot game would be a great way to attract students to come to our event. I know that many people like kahoot games, but if we are going to play this game then we would definitely need an incentive. I know that people like to play for rewards but I wouldn't suggest that the top three only get a prize because that could possibly make some students upset. I believe we definitely need to advertise the goosebump theme as well because I know that a lot of students enjoy the Goosebumps books, movies, and the tv show. If we go based off of that then we can go on to tell ghost stories that someone has heard from another person or that they have experienced themselves. I think these key ideas will attract the students and maybe even some faculty members to come to our event. I know about a youtube channel called llama arts that post true horror stories. Some of them are very explicit, but I have connected one for anyone to watch.

event

For our event I think that the "attention getter" of our event would be the Kahoot game. The Kahoot game can be used to get most of our students and or school faculty to come be apart of our event. Although, the game won't last the entire time period, it should take up around 30 minutes if we have enough questions that keep everyone engaged and not bored. Our game should consist of three main prizes for the top winners. 1st place receives the best prize and so on. For our next event of the night, I think that Jessie Young's film would be the main attraction of the event since its about Aurora University being haunted. This idea would be perfect for our class for the "Supernatural" segment. I think with the addition of this film, if we help advertise the film along with Jessie, we should expect around 50-70 people to show up instead of 30. Assuming that plenty of people show up to support Jessie's movement and those that are just interested in finding out how the school is haunted we should expect a pretty good turnout. I think we should increase our budget now and bring more food for the scary film and or scary stories segment!

Event

I think the Kahoot would be a good engaging starter for our event especially if we have some sort of prize incentive for either the person who wins overall or the top 3 winners either-or. For storytelling we can talk about stories/myths we've heard that interest us and make our audience leave with something to "wonder" about. For example I would talk about the belief about aliens and the time I encountered a UFO once in Ludowici, Georgia. I think we should use the first picture somewhere in our event because we have been discussing the concepts of pop culture and religion throughout the course, so we can talk with people about what we know about pop culture and if they even knows what popular culture is. The second photo with the Buddha man made me think back to when we were discussing sacred objects and how just because you buy a religious artifact or something in a shopping store doesn't mean that it's still not sacred; you just have to worship and believe that it is.

Event

For the event, I think the kahoot is a good idea, but I’m having a hard time figuring out other games that we could play. One game that I think could be a hit or miss depending on the people’s preference is Charades. Instead of acting out literary words, we could replace it with religion and superheroes and have the guests guess the answers.  Another game we could do is twenty questions in relations to our theme. It’s been a while since I play this game, but each person must guess the correct answer until twenty (the minimum), and if the player guesses correct then it becomes their turn to be “it.” I’m not sure if this will work, but I remember a game called “guess the villain” or whatever theme a person chooses, and when the people arrive we attached an index card or paper to their backs and we would ask them questions and the guests can interact with others to try and figure out the answer.
For the storytelling, I really wish we could have a bonfire outside, but since that is out of the question I think we could maybe tell our own version of scary story that we have heard throughout our lives or stories that we believe in. The title of our event is “The wonders of the Super” so I think we could maybe tell stories about superstitious things we have seen or believe. For example, I was always told that if a person dies, their soul/spirit will remain alive, and my story would be that 3 weeks after a death in my family, I could have sworn that I saw a rocking chair moving everything I walked by where that person used to be sitting. I think our own personal stories or stories that we have heard from the past could be interesting and the people can share some of their own mysterious stories as well too.
For the posters, I’m not very artistic when it comes to drawing or anything art, so I look up this one website that creates a design for the posters. I’m not sure if these images are allowed or not, but I came up with a few ideas.  I’m not sure what we want to put on the posters, but I think something to capture the attention of the people like a question or statement. For example, this is what I came up with:
 “The Wonders of the Super”

Have you ever wondered how superheroes, supernatural fit into the Religion spectrum? Take a break and come enjoy a night full of activities and free food!!!

These are a few examples of the flyers that I came up with.
