Superman and Religion

Before starting this class I would never had thought religion could be intertwined in superhero movies. Watching Superman prior to this class I never realized the connection to Christ. After reading Kozlovic journal about the connection between Christ and Superman I was still kind of iffy but then we watched the film in class and it all made sense. Superman is very similar in the sense that he wants what is best for all and will do what he can to make that happen. He sacrifices himself to save other. He is also not from Earth just like Christ. Superman also hears a voice that guides him that happens to be his father, Jesus listened to the voice of God for guidance. Both Superman and Jesus were sent to Earth by their fathers, they both seem to be humans to the naked eye, but they are not human. They are both humble characters, they do not show off their powers, they are extraordinary men living an ordinary life. They have unnatural powers as well. Superman and Jesus are extremely similar and after reading about how they are more and more similarities arise when watching the film.
