When we look at Superman and Jesus in a way they have many similarities and Principles they live by and follow even when it may harm themeselves. They both put people before themselves for the greater good of doing things. Even they may have similar stories of where they came from. Superman game a different galaxy and was sent to earth to protect the people while Jesus Christ was put into Mary wound by the holy sprint and he died on the cross for people’s sins. When people didn’t believe in them neither Superman or Jesus gave up they kept pushing through every battle and obstacles they were faced with. They didn’t believe that Jesus was the chosen one from God, they didn’t believe he could heal the sick and let the blind see.
The way Superheroes and Religion is seemed it has a lot of common things. Superheroes is just another way to show the people or children hope as well does Religion, it gives you something to believe in when things feel that they are what they need to be.
Hi Zyshonne -- say more about HOW it shows hope, or transmits values, etc. I think you're onto something that I'd like to see you explore in more detail and with a bit more attention to detail. Why, if people need "something" to believe in, might a story about an alien work just as well as a story about Jesus? Do these two types of "myths" perform the same function? If so, why are they different?
