Rel Con Ideas
My biggest ideas for what we should present at the end of the year for this class are:
-
1. Market HARD
- have fliers, posters, etc.. up around campus to get the word out
- Email student body about event/events, promise food for the chance of a higher turnout
- we can promote what we put on by using things that college students like, such as Marvel, Disney, pop culture icons, etc..
- personally invite religion classes or other elective classes to come to what we put on. This will allow for the possibility that at least a few groups of people will be interested in the religious aspect of the event
- Explain that although we are a religion class, and the event will make some parallels between religion and the topic of our event, it doesn't matter if you aren't religious, you can still come and have a good time and learn some fun stuff that doesn't even have to do with what one would consider a specific religion
- we will have to make it interesting to the groups of people who may not be interested in things having to do with religion
2. Have some type of movie night on campus and show a film that is relevant and relatable to the class and the topic of our choice
- let people know there will be other events happening around campus that have to do with the movie shown
3. Have the main idea of the event be the relation between superheroes/pop culture and what people consider to be "religion"
4. Include various activities or things for students to do/watch.
- have music and food to draw people's attention to the area
- a poll one day that gets student opinions on something to do with the topic we choose, or the possible film we show (just an idea)
- present it in the Atrium, ICE, the dining hall area, or the Spartan Spot with results presented at an event in the same place the next day. This will provide a fun and interesting opportunity to further explain what we have to say

I like your ideas, and think they will work well, especially because people love food and watching movies. Since our generation is so much influenced by pop culture, I think the subject of religion and superheroes would fascinate them. I also think getting the faculty involved, in my opinion, would provided another perspective for us from a generation other than our own.
